Department of Hydraulic and Water Resources Engineering

Primary tabs

The predecessor of Department of Hydraulic and Water Resources Engineering was founded in 1878 and led by Professor Mihály Klimm. The Department got its current name in 1999. The education tasks of the Department beyond the general subjects (hydrology and hydraulics) cover various water engineering specialities. It includes hydraulic and hydrologic engineering, water damage prevention, water resources management in connection with surface waters and groundwaters. Advanced computer equipment plays great role not only in the research, but in teaching also. Students can learn the basics of fluid dynamics modelling. Our staff teaches courses also in English up to the PhD level. Furthermore, there are many research and industrial projects running in the Department, such as numerical modelling of surface water flow, examining groundwater dynamics and discovering the runoff processes of catchments.
